Tim Manning, LMSW

Tim Manning (he/him) is a Brooklyn-based licensed master social worker (LMSW). Tim brings a humanistic approach to his work as a clinician, supporting children, teens, adults, and families in leveraging their strengths to manage difficult transitions, recover from traumatic experiences, and facilitate personal growth and exploration.

Tim employs a range of treatment modalities, including psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Prior to working at Dwellness, Tim facilitated art and music therapy sessions at Musicamente, for groups and individuals, primarily teenagers and adults, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. He integrated family members into the therapeutic process and supported them in carrying the therapeutic work into their lived experience. Additionally, Tim trained in the mental health department at the Brooklyn VA Hospital, where he provided individual therapy and facilitated groups. His work at the VA focused on promoting emotional awareness, self expression, healthy relationships and anger management skills for individuals experiencing challenges such as PTSD, intimate partner violence, chronic pain, depression, and terminal illness.

In addition to his role at Dwellness, Tim works as an executive function tutor with Organizational Tutors, providing coaching to young adults diagnosed with ADHD, autism, and traumatic brain injuries. He supports his clients' academic, professional, and personal development through his work with Organizational Tutors. Additionally, as a clinician, Tim draws upon his experience working with children as a Forest School Educator in Brooklyn, utilizing nature in an urban setting as a resource to enhance social emotional learning.

Tim received his MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and graduated with honors from New College of Florida.
