Rachel Brooks, CAT-LP

Rachel Brooks (she/her) is a Creative Arts/Drama Therapist living in Brooklyn, New York. Rachel offers an integrated, strengths-based, holistic approach, tailored to each individual, family, or group’s specific therapeutic needs. Rachel has vast experience working with children ages 5 through 12 at home, in person and virtually. 

When working with children, Rachel utilizes theatrical, therapeutic techniques such as improvisation, embodiment, play, monologues, scene study, poetry, role theory and other projective and storytelling techniques to address various issues such as emotion regulation, emotional processing, anxiety, social anxiety, depression, collective trauma, coping skills, self advocacy and self efficacy. She also integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and core mindfulness practices when working with children, teens, adolescents and adults. Additionally, Rachel integrates her knowledge of breath and voice work, and engages these tools to help a client ground themselves and warm-in to the space.

She completed her Masters in Drama Therapy at New York University and completed her BFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. During the pandemic, she consulted with artists of various disciplines and led a workshop with Artist Strategy, called “Coming Together,” which provided a creative and therapeutic space to process grief and collective trauma. Above all, Rachel prioritizes collaborating with her clients in order to provide the best possible care tailored to their individual needs and personal growth.
