Henry Parente, MSW-I
Henry Parente (he/him/his) is a dedicated and welcoming social work intern on track to obtain a Master of Social Work degree at the NYU Silver School of Social work in May of 2025. Henry seeks to meet his clients exactly where they are in their mental health journey, utilizing a strengths-based approach to support clients in developing a robust sense of self-worth and confidence in their uniqueness.
Henry draws from a range of therapeutic modalities in his practice, tailoring sessions to the client's individual needs and goals. Among these approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy.
Before joining the team at Dwellness, Henry worked as a care coordinator on a street outreach team at City Relief. There, Henry conducted mental health counseling and case management with clients who were experiencing homelessness, substance abuse issues, and mental devastation resulting from complex trauma. Using the skills associated with motivational interviewing, Henry was able to guide his clients toward positive change across a variety of behavioral issues.
Before pursuing his MSW from the Silver School of Social Work, Henry graduated Summa Cum Laude from the George Washington University with a degree in Psychology and American Studies. When he is not working, Henry is often listening to music (of all genres), running outside, or taking photos of his friends in New York City.
